I love Top Chef and am a fan of Kristen Kish's. I was not lucky enough to have a KK sighting though. The restaurant is lively and a bit darkly lit. Service is good and if you have any questions about the food, the server is very knowledgeable about all their offerings. The five stars are specifically for the mafaldini and the pork chop. The pasta was long and tender/soft. The mushroom sauce paired with the onions and parmesan was just rich and delicious. If you're ordering enough food to share, I think the mafaldini has the serving size of one. The pork chop wasn't going to be my second choice, due to my strong dislike of tahini, which is in the salad that accompanies the pork, BUT I really love a good pork chop. The chop does not disappoint. The outer edges are slightly crispy, but on the whole, was very tender and super juicy. The pork chop is great. I didn't appreciate the squash/tahini/fennel/blackberry salad. I didn't think all those flavors together were a good mix, and the texture was off putting to me. Salad aside, I would 100% order the pork chop again and maybe try to sub the salad. The food served here looks just like how they're shown online. I wouldn't hesitate to come back.

We came here for the Top Chef Season Finale watch party and met our fellow foodie Austinites. What an amazing experience to try new dishes, inspired by the episode and be "one team" watching / analyzing / guessing the result of Season 21. Favorite dish was the smoked hiramasa crudo. Unexpected brightness from the Aleppo pepper. The combination of watermelon and fresh fish is a perfect summer treat. Great staff, awesome group of "new friends" and an experience for the ages!

The smoked crudo is amazing. Heavy on salt and olive oil. The smoke and a little bit of heat cuts through the sour plum and watermelon. Favorite thing I have eaten in a long time. I am not so happy with the savory corn pasta. It lacked body, salt, and didn't have a discerning flavor other than the corn nuts which had some smokiness. Really, it lacks a bit of sauce for me--seems like it needed more because the pasta stuck together in a lump. I sat at the bar and the service was amazing. The bartender seemed to know the menu when I asked questions. The service was fast and attentive.

-Maple glazed cauliflower -Crispy rice -Mushroom pasta -Organic half chicken -Pork chop Service was great; everyone was attentive & knowledgeable about the menu. The chicken was a bit salty but our favorites were the crispy rice & pork chop. Overall, a good dining experience & tasty food but this didn't stand out enough to make me want to go back.

Ambiance: located in the main area of the Line Hotel, the open space houses decor that is dark and moody with gorgeous views. Service: We were lucky to get Trista, who was just a gem. She was attentive, genuine, personable and knowledgeable with a clear passion for food. Everything came out so quickly, including drinks. Food: all of it was beautiful, delicious and intentional. The menu is intended to be shared family style with 2-3 dishes recommended per person. We had a pretty big lunch but still ended up ordering 4 dishes. - Tuna crudo: what an interesting blend of sweet and savory with fresh tuna, strawberries and basil. The kohlrabi gave a nice crunch for some texture. - Crispy Rice: true to its name, it was delightfully crispy, even after mixing the bowl and topping with lemon. Something about it felt so homey and comforting to me while still being an elevated dish. - Malfaldini: a simple but tasty pasta cooked perfectly al dente. - Rabbit & ricotta dumplings: reminiscent of a gnocchi soaked in rabbit jus, light and pillowy. The rabbit was cut into strips and was tender and tasty. Valet parking is available through the hotel, some parking garages nearby, limited street parking as well.

A generous 5-star review because I would go back and try the things I didn't order, and order again the things I loved! Right near the foot of the north end of the Congress Bridge, with amazing river views, inside a chic hotel. Chef Kish was not present, but the food was still amazing. Dining here made me feel like I was back in California, not Texas! If I were to return, I would try the wagyu next time. -Grilled Texas beets. Delicious! Might not order again because the other dishes were much more amazing. -Confit duck and dumplings. The duck was delicious and the sauce was divine. But the dumplings were just okay. -Mafaldini pasta with champignon sauce, dehydrated/rehydrated button mushrooms, pearl onions, parmesan. DELICIOUS! Would order again and again, and would also try the bucatini next time because we didn't do a second pasta. -Crispy rice with saffron aioli, crab, bacon, cucumber, cilantro, haricot vert aka french green beans. I am a sucker for crispy rice! Would order again, but I think I can recreate this at home since I love crispy rice! -Steamed halibut and sunchoke. Delicate and tasty fish but the sunchoke was the star!

I've been here a few times over the years, and I'm glad I revisited again. The must get dish is the Fried Steamed Buns with charred eggplant! It was so delicious that we ordered another one. The steamed buns did all the heavy lifting because they tasted like they were seared, and it's not your regular kind of dough. You'll see. We also had the Burrata, Crispy Rice, Confit Duck & Dumplings, Steamed Swordfish, and Honey Roasted Half Chicken. The Confit Duck & Dumplings is essentially gnocchi, but we were expecting the traditional Asian dumplings stuffed with duck meat, so that was the most disappointing dish. Crispy Rice was simply crusty rice over vegetables. A bit blend. The Burrata was pretty much industry standard, and the Swordfish and Chicken were both just okay. I'm giving it a 4 star because the ambiance is great plus comfortable booth seats (Always a plus in my books!). For some reason, we had to ask for water refills multiple times with our server. He was not very attentive. Everyone enjoyed their drinks: The Den, Old Fashioned, Tea Thyme, and Manhattan. For dessert, we had Toasted Sourdough Ice Cream and (I think) Cinnamon Butter Cake. They were both really delicious, but we were too stuffed from the Fried Steamed Buns, we couldn't finish. Plus it was on the house since it was a birthday celebration dinner.

I've been a big fan of Kristen Kish ever since she competed on Top Chef. Nate and I have watched everything she's been in on TV and were so excited to finally check out Arlo Grey. We had a reservation for a Sunday evening which I had to modify, easily done on OpenTable. The restaurant is basically in the Line Hotel lobby, with an open and airy dining room. I would love to see it in the daytime with the views of the water through the big windows. Our server Yeaji was so sweet and helpful with recommendations, walking us through the whole menu. She suggested two plates from the Garden section of the menu, two from the grains and pasta, and one protein. I thought that might be a bit too much food, but we did it anyway and got: -Kingfish crudo: So refreshing and light and I loved the watermelon & fresno chile broth. -Shishito peppers: These were fine, the peppers themselves were typical of this dish which I've had several times recently. Nothing super special but I did really like the fried egg aioli. It gave a Caesar salad vibe to the dish which was tasty. -Fried steamed buns: I read many reviews that mentioned these, but they were way too doughy and bready for me. But, I'm not a huge bread lover. Nate liked them, and I did enjoy the charred eggplant and creme fraiche accompaniment. -Crispy rice: Also a popular dish here and rightfully so - it is simple but so, so good. The rice was perfectly crispy and the bacon was salty and delicious. I wasn't sure how the green beans would fit into the dish at first, but it all really worked well together and I'd eat this every day if I could. -16oz grilled Berkshire pork chop: By this time we were both pretty full, but I was so curious about the pork chop. Definitely not a cut I usually order at restaurants, but it was recommended and I'm glad we got it. The meat itself was tender, juicy, and rich. I didn't really care for the texture of the corn salad, and I prefer thinner sliced fried green tomatoes vs. the wedges we had, but the dish was quite good and not too sweet. Service was great and they take the time to explain each dish as it hits the table. We had zero room left for dessert but everything on that list sounded great too. Would love to come back again someday, and so glad we got to experience this spot.
